The Lower Dart trip two weeks ago when I met up with 5 Canadian (or, no its OPEN) canoes and several kayakers, made it a most enjoyable trip. The waves we hit bellow Broken Weir towards the end resulted in many loud screams and several more capsizes. All great fun....but I didn't see any of it as I was out front just dozzing off as I paddled gently along eating my 4 course picknic. cheers, see you on the Barle...Pip

Hi Pip I'm glad you enjoyed the Dart. I'd have been there but have been laid low for a couple of weeks with the aftermath of flu or something. I hope to be OK for the Barle. my 4 course picknic. Well I suppose you do have a boat big enough that it won't sink. Last time on the Barle we stopped so long for our "picnic" that we ran out of light.

Sorry to hear that you had a touch of flu and missed the Dart paddle. After your last experience on the Barle finishing quite late, may I suggest that when we paddle it on the 13 that Howard is restricted from bring his camp kitchen from which he makes a three course meal followed by coffee. Make him paddle a kayak and that hopefully will restrict the amount he can bring. OR how about Howard brings everything with loads of tea 7 coffee, gets on an hour in front of the main group and sets up a field kitchen to feed us a slap up lunch 3/4 of the way down the river....I like this idea. Cheers Pip
