Subject: Are you over 16 and kayaking rivers (grade II +) in England and/or Wales? If so, please could you take part in my Masters dissertation research project!
Hello,
My name is Katie Fisher and I am studying for a Masters in Environmental Management for Conservation and Recreation through the Department of Development and Society at Sheffield Hallem University, under the supervision of Suzanne Leckie.
With over 15 years of kayaking experience, I have decided to use my dissertation as an opportunity to explore the ways in which white-water kayakers paddling rivers in England and Wales use and value information about their sport, both in relation to making decisions about a typical day trip and more generally, for information and leisure.
The purpose of this study is to try and improve the way information is made available, so it reaches the right paddlers at the right time and place, enabling them to make informed decisions about their paddling.
This email is an invitation for you and your members and friends to participate in the study. As the email header suggests, participants should be over 16 and kayaking rivers (grade II+) in England and/or Wales. Participation in the study will entail completing a self-completion questionnaire, which will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. It is mainly tick boxes and drop downs, so very little typing. You cannot save and return later to your responses, so please ensure you have enough time.
To take part please follow the link below or copy into your internet browser. This will open up the questionnaire which is on the survey hosting website, called Survey Monkey.

Whether you are eligible to take part or not, please could you forward this to other paddlers you know or post the link it onto your social media sites, websites or forums!
If you require any further information prior, during or after participating in the study please do not hesitate to get in contact with either myself, or if necessary my supervisor.
E-mail details: kayaking.research@btinternet.com / s.leckie@shu.ac.uk
Thank you in advance for your time, it’s very much appreciated!
Katie
